Loving the Lord

It may not be easy to be a single believer, when it seems the majority are married with children. I know and I have wrestled with this state of being for many years of my life. As a young single in my early 2o’s it was much easier, because most people were single and there were ministries focused on young singles. But as I passed 30 and 40 it was not so easy. There were failed relationships and many longings for children of my own. But God is so good to remind me at every step that there was nothing good He was withholding from me. As I study His word and walk with Him, He reveals His will for my life and I am to be content.

Here are a few things God has taught me as a single believer:

1) I’ll never be more loved than right now by Him. His love is everlasting and unconditional and fills me with acceptance. See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. 1 John 3:1

2) I am complete in Him. How many times have you heard “you are looking for your other half or better half?” Nonsense as believers we are complete, whole, and incredible in Christ! Colossians 2: 6-10

3) Joy is found in Jesus Christ not in man. Spending time with the Lord and living to please Him is where true fulfillment exists. Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalms 37:4

4) He gives and takes away. He gives friendship, takes away pain, and changes our seasons/stations in life for His glory! and said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither. the LORD gave , and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. Job 1:21

So I have decided to be encouraged and joyous in Him. He is in control, and this is His will for my life at this time. I thank Him and praise Him for honoring me with singleness. I love the Lord with all my heart, soul, and mind. I will love Him perfectly in Heaven just as He loves me perfectly now. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

There is no greater love story than the Creator leaving heaven to take on human flesh and die for all of us. Just so we could know Him for eternity and be fulfilled. Join me in saying “I love you LORD!” “I love you LORD!”
